For more than 25 years, Jami Grosser, M.Ed. (she/her) has supported college students across six different campuses, working in nearly every corner of Student Affairs — LGBTQ & Cultural Centers, Student Life, Admissions, Orientation, Residential Life, and Academic Advising. Her career has been shaped by a simple belief: every student deserves clarity, belonging, and support as they navigate college.
Why I Do This Work
A Not‑So‑Straight Path Into Higher Education
Jami’s own college journey didn’t begin with confidence or certainty. She started as a pre‑med major, mostly because she didn’t yet understand the wide range of careers available. She spent her first couple of years trying to reconcile her desire to help people with her very real fear of blood and guts.
Her first job out of college — recruiting students at her alma mater — became the true turning point. It was the first time she saw that she could help people without a scalpel, and she fell in love with supporting students and their families through big decisions and big transitions. That experience set everything in motion, and off to graduate school in education she went.
Over the next 25 years, she worked across LGBTQ+ and Cultural Centers, Student Life, Orientation, Residential Life and Academic Advising — spaces where identity, belonging, and student support intersect every single day. Those years shaped her belief that students thrive when they feel seen, valued, and understood.
She calls herself a passion chaser: someone who chooses soul‑filling work over climbing the traditional university leadership ladder.
The Beginning of This Is College Success
In fall 2024, during a major career transition, Jami envisioned This Is College Success. She saw how many students were still struggling with the hidden parts of college — the unspoken expectations, the confusing systems, the pressure to “just know” how everything works.
She began building TICS as a space where students could find honest guidance, emotional clarity, and practical strategies. She’s now preparing for a winter 2026 launch, focused on helping students navigate college with more confidence and less overwhelm.
How Jami Supports Students
Jami has a knack for distilling the best strategies for success in college and beyond. She’s passionate about supporting students in all their identities and lived experiences, and she approaches her work with empathy, curiosity, and a deep respect for each student’s story.
She’s an empathic strategist — someone who validates students’ struggles while helping them map out pathways forward. Her goal is to give students the inside hacks that make college feel less mysterious and more manageable.
At the heart of her work is a belief she returns to again and again: You belong here. And you can do this.
Education & Life Outside Work
Jami Grosser earned her bachelor’s degree in Life Science (Pre‑Optometry) with a minor in Women’s Studies from Kansas State University, and her master’s in Higher & Postsecondary Education from Arizona State University.
She lives outside Seattle with her fellow Student Affairs wife, Shelbi, and their twins — a family built on curiosity, community, and a shared love of supporting students.
